Leticia established her first home-based childcare facility in 1984. Since that time she has gained an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education, an Early Childhood Education Master Teacher with Honors, and an Early Childhood Education Site Supervisor with Honors.
She has continued to enrich her knowledge and understanding of childhood development and childcare best practice guidelines by completing over 24 different University of California Davis extension courses. Some of these courses include Exploring Language and Literacy, Managing Difficult Behavior, Social Emotional Development and Classroom Management, Culture and the Care of Young Children, Loss, Trauma and Young Children, Children’s Exercise and Nutrition, and Supporting Emergent Readers and Writers.
Leticia is a valued and active leader in the early child development community in Truckee, CA. She was a committee member on the Family Resource Center, and Latino Advisory Council, as well as a member of the Rotary Club, Soroptimist Club, and Queen of Hearts Foundation.
Beyond her outstanding professional and community achievements, she continues to love working with young children, finding the close interpersonal connections she establishes with her program’s children and families keep her young and full of vitality.
At Lety’s Preschool & Immersion Program, we believe that each child learns, grows, and develops at a unique pace. We respect this individualism and allow the children to develop and learn at a pace that is comfortable for him or her.
Through our teacher’s careful modeling of respectful behavior, the children quickly embrace manners, respectful behavior, and effective communication. This behavior helps maintain a learning environment that fosters increased self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-determination among the children.
Lety’s Preschool & Immersion Program offers a full foreign language immersion program that is unique to the Truckee North Lake Tahoe region. We value the benefit of exposing children to cultural and ethnic diversity, and believe such exposure helps a child become aware of the greatness in each of us.
While our teaching is not guided by any particular religion, we hope to encourage acceptance of others and spiritual development in the children through incidental learning that occurs around different religious holidays and celebrations.
